A child's musculoskeletal problems are different from those of an adult. Because children are still growing, their body's response to injuries, infections, and deformities may be quite different than what it would be seen in a full-grown person. Dr. Bassett diagnoses, treats, and manages children's musculoskeletal problems, such as:

  • Limb and spine deformities noted at birth, or later in life (clubfoot, scoliosis, limb length differences)
  • Gait abnormalities (limping)
  • Broken bones
  • Bone or joint infections and tumors
  • Other injuries from sports or accidents

Sports medicine is the field concerned with physical fitness and the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries sustained in sports or exercise-related activities. This includes, but is not limited to, sprains, strains and other soft tissue injuries, stress fractures, knee and ankle injuries, shoulder impingement, tennis or “Little Leaguer’s” elbow.

Orthotics is the design, development, fitting and manufacture of devices that support, straighten or improve the function of a body part. Orthotics can be used for orthopaedic conditions of the leg, foot or ankle. Orthotic devices may be recommended for several reasons, including:

  • aligning and supporting the foot or ankle
  • preventing, correcting or accommodating foot deformities
  • improving the overall function of the foot or ankle
